CDW is proud to announce the launch of its partnership with Stemettes, an award-winning social enterprise. The partnership will help to inspire and support girls from the ages of 5-21 years old to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). CDW will be sponsoring a 2-day Stemettes Hackathon Event in London, taking place July 6-7th.
Across the two days, the participants will receive guidance on how to develop and code an app for mobile. No coding experience will be necessary, as they’ll be guided from start to finish, and will ultimately create their own unique app.
In addition to sponsoring the event, CDW employees will volunteer their time, as well as their technical and creative skills, to support the participating girls. The partnership aligns with CDW’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that encourages and enables all its employees to excel.
Yvonne Matzk, Director, Partners & Marketing for CDW UK, said: “Our partnership with Stemettes is an integral part of our mission to encourage technology careers and improve diversity in the industry as a result. By partnering with the Stemettes we can help provide the next generation of aspiring females with guidance, coaching and encourage them to pursue their goals.”
Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE and founder of the Stemettes said: “Just 21% of those working in STEM fields are women. Our mission at Stemettes is to inspire the next generation of females to enter these fields by showing them the amazing women already in STEM, and by helping them to develop their STEM skills. Companies like CDW, which embed diversity and inclusion into their organisations and which promote women into senior leadership roles, give girls a vision of their future to which they can aspire.”
